So what the Hell.
I see that this is a fairly old issue, lots of people talking about it last year, and yet there is no actual fix from Sony nor any sign that they plan to make one. As far as I can tell the accepted hypothesis is that the PS4 is backlogging updates for games/the system and not deleting obsolete files to make room for new ones, which is what I also presumed from similar experiences with other systems.
The consistent recommendation is to have at least two times as much space as is required by the game? And everyone seems to just be okay with that? I've had to delete half my games to make room for the ones I have now. I wanted to re-install Destiny and cleared the required forty gigs of space and a few more for the 1.33 update, and it tells me I have to delete unnecessary content. Before that it gave me specific amounts of space I needed to clear for the update, but once I had deleted that amount and the update starts, it gets to 3% and tells me to get rid of this 'unnecessary content' with no hint as to what or where that might be. I deleted what I could but at this point I'm down to the few games and applications I do actually use frequently. My system is seriously hollow now and it's still not enough.
If they aren't going to let you access these backlogged files to delete them, ***** are you supposed to do, just leave 40-80 GBs empty At All Times? I don't get it. Deleting all your content to make room for something that isn't even a quarter of the size is not a Solution. Someone please tell me how to get rid of this dumb sh*t before I blow a fuse.
I have enough room. I deleted sh*t for an hour to make that room. I'm not going to delete more because Sony can't get their crap together? At the very least they could give an accurate reading of the amount of free space available. Is there literally nothing else anyone has to offer?
