Hi, I recently bought a PS4 slim and am having some serious issues using it. First of all, I connected the console to the TV and had no problems initially as I set it up and set up my account. I then tried to play Battlefield 1 and was prompted to initiate a large download with an estimated time of 10 hours. However there was also the option to play the offline components of the game while the download progresses in the background, so I pressed that. However, in the black screen that followed immediately after confirming that I wanted to play during the download, the PS4 silently switched off. THe console was very warm to the touch and seemed like it was getting hotter, so I unplugged it and let it cool down. I then tried to turn it on again, and it randomly switched off within seconds.
I would like to not that there are no ventilation issues with the setup of my PS4 - it was position in a cool and ariated location.Neither are there issues with the power cables, which are plugged in properly and the power output which the system is plugged into is fine - it is the same one my PS3 is plugged into which has been working for years without issue.
I took it to the seller and he told me that the issue was that an update was lacking, and that I shouldn't play Battlefield without the entire download first. So I took the PS4 home, turned it on, and left Battlefield downloading overnight, which it did without a hitch. I then played Battlefield for a few minutes without issue and turned off the PS4 properly.
The next day I downloaded the Doom demo from the PSN store. This downloaded fine, however when I tried to play it, the system shut down again during the initial load screen. The PS4 was hot again - I unplugged it and let it rest for a few hours, then I tried to play Battlefield again. Once more, the system shut down randomly as the game was loading up.
Can anyone give me a hand please?
